Running Accomplishments:

I was a much better runner in my 20's and 30's.  When I was 52 I had a 28.5 5K and a 58.5 10K, and I would like to surpass those times.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run a 1/2 marathon.  I would actually love to run a full marathon, but am not sure if my body would break down with injuries training for one.  Update fall 2010: still no 1/2 marathon, but I did run all the way up city creek and back home (14 miles)  - absolutely gorgeous!!

Personal:

My name is Adele Kimbrough - I'm 58 and have been running (off and on) since I was 16.  My body is not well designed for speed, and I'm a bit arthritic, but I'm having fun trying to figure out just how fast I can be.  And this blog helps!

2011 Deseret News 10K Finish Line.
Dang - missed my goal by 4 seconds!

Another B&B run from my house up to picnic area 7 in city creek then back home. Warm this morning, with a touch of humidity for a change.

I'm just catching up! Love to see that you're posting great miles!

You are doing great! And that is a TOUGH run, you have to tell everyone how hard it is cause you make it sound so easy! Where do you start from?

Any run that starts with "up" is tough. You're being very consistent.

Thanks everyone - it feels good to be able to run consistently again! :)

Kelly - I appreciate your comments, but it's not that tough - picnic area 7 is just a little over 1 mile up the canyon. I usually start running from my house on 12th avenue down to the city creek canyon gate, which is about 1.4 miles from my house, and then run up the canyon a ways, then back home. I had a better run on Saturday and made it up to the water treatment plan where the road gets real narrow. Longest run up city creek canyon this year! Now, you have ran all the way up the canyon, and THAT IS IMPRESSIVE!!! (I used to ride a bike to the top, and those last few hills near the top are huge!!!). Perhaps one of these days I'll drive to the city creek entrance and start my run from there . . .

I just love running in city creek, though, it is so nice!

The ENTIRE canyon is pretty tough in my opinion!!! That ending is crazy hard, that is for sure. It is an absolutely beautiful run, and nice and shady, too!
